Imperialism pays dividends in its way. I can only assume that the go-go garage bands captured on the excellent Cambodian Rocks comp got wind of these styles from the American presence in neighboring Vietnam. Hopefully, the primary sources were not being blasted from the same helicopters dropping napalm in their backyards, but I suspect that may have been the case. It's even sadder to consider the Khmer Rouge's monstrous response to this cultural import.
